Super stressed at work?

Question

Anyone else feeling like maternity leave is a trick to convince women to put in twice as many hours in their 3rd trimester due to guilt/overwhelming work loads?

Honestly, my husband & I can definitely afford for me to go on maternity leave (12 weeks unpaid), but my employer can't afford to hire a contractor to do my job & I am struggling with the horrible position I'm leaving my team in. I am thinking about lying to my boss & telling her I can't take maternity leave b/c I feel so horrible about it. I just don't know what to do :(

I don't feel guilty AT ALL about my upcoming maternity leave. I'm an elementary principal and I've informed my Superintendent that I plan to take my full 12 weeks of FMLA leave. I've prayed for this child and I plan to use all the time afforded to me to bond with her. Family comes first!! I love my job, but I understand that if I die today they will have someone in the school to replace me the next day. I'm working the same as I always have, yet i am not torn about taking my maternity leave. I'll pick up where I left off when I return in January 2017.

Oh my goodness this is how I feel!!! I work with children with special needs, and I am the boss of many girls as I am a supervisor. I have sooo much work to do to make sure my kids are all set to go and that the supervisors filling in are all set. This is because I want them to have the best care, not because I have to do it. I feel ill never be done

I'm a teacher so I have to leave all my sub plans for when I'll be out! I'm teaching a brand new class this year so I'm making it day to day at this point! I'm freaking out because if he doesn't come early I have 5.5 weeks left!!!! I need to have them done and SOON!!!!!

I feel the same way! I'm really stressed about leaving, or even taking sick time now when I'm not feeling well. I love my job and fully intend to go back to work, but I'm struggling between wanting to be out to bond and care for my baby, and feeling like I need to go back early to support my team. I'm also really busting my ass right now because I want to reduce the burden on my employer when I leave. We shouldn't have to feel like this!
