"aromatherapy" questions
so i'm going to be having a natural birth and have been thinking a lot about the environment i would like and what techniques i'd like to use to help me relax through the labor. now i know technically, true aromatherapy uses extracts and oils from different plants, but my question is has anyone used other scents not traditionally used in aromatherapy to achieve the same results ? i've never really liked the scent of strong lavender so i know i wouldn't want to use that. i was thinking of trying to just use scents that i find naturally comforting to me during regular stress which would be more along the lines of fall/winter smells like cinnamon, crushed leaves, that sort of thing. but does anyone know if that would have the same effect on your brain or would it just kind of help you feel more at home ?
