First period with an IUD

I got the Skyla IUD towards the end of July at the end of my period. It has truly been great. I had very slight spotting after getting it, and cramps only the day of and a little the day after. I had always had very heavy periods but they always lasted 5 days. No less, no more. I got my first period with Skyla two days early, and it was very light which was great. It was the first time I ever remember not passing huge blood clots. I would normally bleed through a super tampon in less than an hour because of my blood clots. This time I was comfortably able to use a regular tampon for hours and I didn't have to worry about constantly checking if I had bled through. However, my period lasted 9 days. I have never had a period last that long, and while it was light it was quite annoying. I was just wondering if anyone has had similar experiences and if maybe my periods will shorten in length the longer I have the Skyla. Thanks ladies!
