Thrush on your nipple?

Question

I believe I have thrush on one of my nipples. I exclusively pump so I'm not sure if I can still transfer it to baby that way, but it's become very sore when pumping and for at least an hour afterwards. Also I've noticed a small white spot on my nipple that is extra sensitive.

Do you ladies have any home treatments for thrush or something over the counter I can get, or do I need to go to a doctor? It's really not too terrible right now, just uncomfortable, but I don't want it spreading or getting worse. Thanks in advance!

I have been battling thrush for over two months 😩 with medical assistance and nothing is helping right now. But I think my doctor is clueless. We are trying something else right now under her guidance but I do not think it is working as I still have pain. I go back in a week to see her again.

I also exclusively pump and had a white, cheesy substance on my nipples for weeks. I treated it as though I had thrush for 2 months, but the meds didn't seem to be changing anything. (I was also constantly cleaning & sterilizing pump parts & clothes.) Finally I asked my dermatologist to do a milk culture & they also did a scraping of the white stuff. Lab tests said it wasn't yeast. I still don't know what the white stuff was, but it eventually decreased. So now I feel like I spent all that time obsessing needlessly. If you can get a conclusive answer with a milk culture, I highly recommend it!

Boil your pumping stuff at every use. I've read that you should boil it for twenty minutes. Use gentian violet on your nipples. You can get it from Walmart. Check baby's mouth for white spots. If baby has it then use the gentian Violet on the baby's mouth. Use it for 3-4 days.

Yes it can transfer through the bottle nipple and all you need is your dr to give the prescription and the ointment should treat the thrush

Put coconut oil on them, and keep them out in the air as much as possible. Also take a good quality probiotic on a regular basis to help combat any yeast issues, and it's good for breast milk too.
