Do long distance relationships work?

I've been dating someone since August 17, 2015. We met playing video games about 2 years before we actually started texting and talking to each other. We have never met irl, but we talk, text, and play games daily. He lives in California and I live in Arkansas. All I know is that we adore each other deeply. I was just wondering what other's opinion are on LDR.

I was with my then boyfriend now husband for 5 years we lived together and everything. I got a job offer so moved states for it, he had to stay behind pack up our house and finish his contract at his work. We didn't see each other for a year, we couldn't Skype, FaceTime or anything like that was just phone calls and at that not very good ones as I was working in a remote indigenous community so recption wasn't awesome. It was frustrating at times but we did it.

I have been in one for two years it's been great. I get to be with him permanently in January and I am counting down the days & this will have all been worth it :) it depends on the relationship and people involved for sure. You have to be commited and it takes work.

Me and my bf met playing an online game , I'm from Georgia and he's from California. we talked and texted everyday and played our game everyday with each other then during summer when we had break from work he came to visit me. And now we are living together and still happy and very in love with each other .

realistically speaking, I feel like they're extremely difficult unless you have a set point where you'll be able to be close to eachother geographically, whether living together or separately. I've been in a long distance relationship for 2 years now but if I didn't know that I'd only be 15 minutes from my boyfriend in a little less than a year I don't really know if I'd be able to deal. but if it's meant to be it'll be, even if it's long distance!
