Do Japanese women eat sushi while pregnant?

I've been craving sushi for a few days and today I passed my favorite store and almost broke down and got some. I know I can get cooked options but I'm craving some salmon 😩

Sushi is not raw fish. Sushi refers to the rice, as in literally vinegared rice. The most popular breakfast sushi in Japan is omelette sushi (vinegared rice with an omelette on top). So sushi is just fine. As far as uncooked fish,  (which is sashimi) it's also fine as long as you know it's fresh and it's not a kind of fish that is high in mercury.

Women in Japan eat sushi while pregnant but the sushi in Japan is the best of the best...the sushi that the US receives is subpar at best even if it seems extremely fresh. Not saying it's not good but that's the difference between sushi in Japan and sushi in the US, just be careful. I avoid it personally, sushi is my favorite food but I just get the cooked stuff for now.

From what I've read, sushi that is made fresh, and not sitting in a deli case for hours, is fine. Just use your best judgement. Women in Japan do eat it, the fish is a great source of omega 3s and protein

I've been occasionally eating salmon sushi because I started obsessing day and night about it.  Been fine.  There are more risks of contamination from eating raw vegetables and fruits than with fish that's from a clean restaurant.

As long as it is cooked you're good. I think the major worry is cross contamination but if you're eating somewhere reputable I wouldn't worry about it. I get veggie rolls and shrimp all the time

I was craving it and had some yesterday! We just ordered some veggie rolls and a shrimp tempura roll since it's cooked. It satisfied my craving. :)

I don't eat sushi even when not pregnant, but my understanding is that if you get it from somewhere high-end (where the fish is super fresh) you should be fine-- because the risk is from fish that is bad.
