IUD weight gain?

Question

I'm 36 weeks and I'm planning on having an IUD put in 8 weeks after delivery. The 2 choices my dr gave me was the mirena and paragard. I was wondering if any ladies on here have had either one before or have it now and how many of you gained weight from it. I have always been a bigger girl so my weight has always been a struggle for me even with working out and eating healthy. I'm scared I will gain a lot of weight with birth control. I've never been on birth control before so I want to see what experiences you guys have had with the IUD

I've had both and didn't gain anything from either. Did have horrible cramps with Paraguard though.

Didn't gain weight from paragard. But did get pregnant 6 years after having it. Now 23 weeks pregnant and Still have it inside. Before this never had a problem. I actually loved it

I had the paragaurd(copper) IUD for 4 years before I decided to have another baby. I gained 15 lbs over that time but not sure it was due to the IUD. It did cause heavier and crampier monthlys. Thinking about trying out the marena after baby gets here.

I had the mirena inserted at 8 weeks PP and continued to lose weight until I was down to my prepregnancy size. I did not have any adverse effects.

I had the merena for 5 years, and it was fantastic! In that time I was the smallest I've ever been😊mind you I've been into fitness for the exact same amount of time, but it never made me hold weight or anything.

I gained a lot and couldn't lose it on Mirena. It also made me crazy. (Hormones) I thought I was pregnant. They tried to put me on meds because it literally made me a psycho. Instead of the drugs I just took the thing out. Within a couple of days started dropping the weight and felt a LOT better emotionally.

After my second I got the mirena iud put in 6 months after. I wanted to make sure I had established a good milk supply and lost a little weight in fear that it might stall the weight loss. However I lost all but 7 lbs of the remaining weight even with the iud in place. Not sure if those last 7lbs was due to lack of really trying or due to the iud but it didn't really bother me. I loved the fact that I didn't have a period, no cramps, no pms. I know it's not everyone's experience but for me it was way better then the experience I had with the pill. Also once we decided we wanted our 3rd I got the mirena removed in January of this year (4yrs 10m from placement) and we got preggers in March. So it didn't mess with my fertility at all either. I was warned it could take about 6 months for my cycle to return and regulate.
