As a FTM I was told labor was going to be long and I was going to go past my due date but my DS had other plans. August 21st I started having contractions during the day at 15 minutes apart. Was told not to go to L & D until 3-5 minutes apart so I just kept an eye on it. As the night progressed I started to notice them 8 minutes apart and couldn't sleep through them. I began to vomit after the contractions due to the pain. I took 4 showers that night to try to calm the pain. The last shower I took I noticed blood, my "bloody show." It was actually a lot more blood than I thought it would be, so much I had to wear a pad. I had my husband call L & D and they said sounds normal but if it makes her more comfortable to come in. So of course we went in. I was 4cm dilated when I got there. So dehydrated to them over an hour to get IV catheter in me. Pain was so hard to deal with I got an epidural literally 5minutes after I got it they went to put the urinary catheter in and I was already 10cm dilated and ready to push. That's when my water broke. 35 minutes of ushing and Ethan John was born. Total time in labor at hospital was 3 hours 34 minutes.
