period 2 days late

I feel kind of weird asking this because I have a son already lol but how long should I wait to test? I was a week late when I tested with my son but that was at the hospital and I wasn't aware I was late I had went to the ER for something different and found out. I've been checking for the past few days for my period and nothing. I'm not sure if I'm ready for baby #2 but if it happens it happens I guess
