Flu shot during pregnancy ? Thoughts ?

My doctor told me I need to get a flu shot while I'm pregnant as well as the DTAP (?) .. First off , I am deathly afraid of needles , specifically shots . Secondly I've heard that many women get even more sick once getting the shot and some even end up losing baby . (Just what I was told , not sure if that is directly linked to flu shot or not )

I'm getting both for sure. The flu vaccine is inactive so you won't get sick from it. And TDaP is essential because babies can't have that vaccine early on and whooping cough is so contagious and can be lethal for infants. It's always your choice but it's good to talk to your doctor if you have more questions.

Have you gotten the Flu Shot before? If you haven't had any bad reaction before, you probably won't have a bad reaction now.

If you don't trust your doctor, you can always get a second opinion. Sometimes even a pharmacist can be helpful for advice like that.

All in all, I would trust my doctor before I would trust anyone with a Google Degree.

You don't get the flu from a flu shot. When the shot first came out they had a live virus in the shot that gave people the flu. It has been developed now to where it is a dead virus. 
Now that being said just because you get the flu shot does not mean you won't get the flu later on. You could get the flu with lesser symptoms or the flu. When they make the shot they use the most common strains from the year before which means this year it may not be one of those statins and you may still get it. I am a CNA and always by my flu shot and have never gotten a flu, a cold yes but not the flu. The DTAP is the shot for whooping cough which is very deadly for baby and they recommend anyone coming into close contact with baby frequently gets it. You don't have to show symptoms to pass it to baby. 
Also, final thing lol, anything helping your immune system helps baby's immune system once they are born, this includes shots. Their immune system is too immature when they are first born and between pregnancy and breast milk is where they get their immunity benefits for the first couple months. 
Giving/getting shots are your decision but make sure you know of the risks before saying no. See if the benefits out way the risks before saying no. There are risks to anything you put in your body not just shots but is the risk not worth getting the benefit. If that all make sense.

FYI to all that getting the flu shot doesn't necessarily prevent you from getting he flu. There are dozens of flu strains and each year they make one flu shot off he strains they think will be the widespread one within the next year. Many years they get it wrong. I think I'll opt out of the flu shot. Any medicine in your body is a risk to the baby. Any. If you do decide to take it, get the doctor to print out the medical facts form for the vaccine they are giving you so you know all the other misc. chemicals in each injection.

Get the flu shot. I've had the shot with every pregnancy. I've never gotten sick from it. It is safe for you and baby. The risks are far greater if you don't get it.

I got them both when I pregnant with my first, and I'm going to do it again this time as well. Getting the flu during pregnancy means 90% of the time you have to be hospitalized! I didn't get sick from it and my LO is in perfect health. Also, the tdap is good to get because it protects your child from whooping cough. But at the end of the day you have to do what you feel is best!

Word of advice, avoid getting the flu shot when you're sick because it can worsen the symptoms! So if you have a cold wait till it's over to get it if you choose to. My doctor said its always best to get the shot when you're feeling 100%!

Oh and do not just get a flu shot if you have an egg allergy! You need to talk to your doctor. They use egg in the vaccine so you could have a reaction if you have any allergy.
