Anyone else struggle with blood getting drawn?

I have a bad history of fainting... Am fully aware that you get lots of practice as a pregnant woman and not thrilled :/ first one is today. Any tips? Here's hoping I have a NICE phlebotomist.... 😳

Yes! I always have, I start to sweat and pass out and I want to throw up. I hate it. I have to lay down to feel better

Me! I always have them lay me down. I have to be horizontal. I also know you aren't supposed to, but I always bring a cold drink for right after. If you start feeling icky, ask for ice right away. Never ever look at the blood or needle or vials if you can help it. Breathe as calmly and deeply as you can. Channel your inner yogi! :) if you're allowed to eat before, always do. If not, bring snacks for right after.

You'll be ok. Just tell them you aren't good at this and they will help you!

Lay down, look away before and after it (so you don't accidentally see something) and have them talk and distract you the whole time! I'm a fainter too and haven't had my first appt yet-can't wait to become a pin cushion! 🙄

Close your eyes or look away when they're drawing the blood and bring water and maybe even a small snack to have after before you move too much or drive

Ask them to not stop talking to you. That always helps me. Then you are looking at there face and not your arm

I understand. I'm not fan either. I hope you get a friendly one that talks that does help. I have to look away and not see it at all or I get sick. I have to have blood work done today.

Don't look. Take slow deep breaths: in through your nose for four counts, hold it four counts, exhale four counts. 
The more you do it the more you'll get used to it. (I'm a therapist who works with folks with anxiety :) 
Remember this is necessary for your health and your baby's :)

I'm not a fan of needles but honestly, keep the conversation going and just keep reminding yourself this is totally worth your tiny babe :) and if you still need the extra boost, you are growing a human....you are one BAD ASS mama! 😘 you'll do fine

I hate it too! I always faint as I suffer from vagotonia so this will be a fun experience
