Popping, whippings and spankings?

At what age do you think you should start popping, whipping or spanking your kids.

My son will get his hand popped when he touches things he shouldn't. And he will get his butt popped. I know plenty of people who are not only alive, have this thing called respect because they actually got spanked as a child. Sometimes just saying no doesn't work on a 2 year old. And I'm not raising an entitled child just because society disagrees with spankings now

Uh, never? I've posted this on another topic before & I don't mind repeating myself for emphasis.

There are countless studies done on the effects of spanking, popping, whipping, whatever the hell you wanna call it, over both short and long periods of time. Not a single one concludes that this "discipline method" has a positive outcome. Time & time again, research shows us that not only does it just not have a positive outcome, it isn't neutral either. In fact, children who are spanked actually begin to exhibit significantly more aggressive & disruptive behavior than those who are not spanked.

I often here the line, "well I was spanked as a child and I turned out okay, and I know my parents love me, so I will do the same." It brings me great joy to hear that you, in particular, turned out "okay" from this method, but others are not so lucky. You turned out okay *in spite of* being spanked, NOT *because* you were spanked.

If you want to set your child up for the best future possible, finding an alternative discipline method to spanking should be the first thing on your list. It is possible to be a strict parent who teaches great discipline without hitting your defenseless child & therefore advocating for violence against those who are weaker than you.

When children cannot understand reason, spanking is nothing more than violence. When children can understand reason, spanking teaches them that those with power are allowed to use violence in certain circumstances against the defenseless.

Find another discipline method. Period.

Popping: mobilty to reinforce a "no"
Spanking: walking and only when the pain of disobeying is worse than the spanking (running into the street, bodies of water, etc.); I don't approve of spanking for behavior.
Whipping: I hope I never have to, but willful disobedience, maybe 7+

I don't know a exact age but i start popping when I know you understand what you doing is wrong and you understand no. Whipping and spankings I save for when when they are a little older.

Just no. Your kids will have a deeper emotional trust in you if you only ever lay gentle hands on them. You can have happy respectful children by teaching with your words.

You should never beat your child and there is a fine line between correction in wrong behaviors and beating the tar out of you child and I have seen parents become so easily pissed at their children's wrong actions they step over the line of correction. So I would suggested spanking is absolute last resort. You should always try to talk to your child first and tell them no and explain to them why. Because I told you so isn't an answer. They are humans too. So it's always a VERY fine line it also depends on the child. Some children react negatively to being spanked. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS talk to your child. It doesn't matter how frustrated you are. You wouldn't lay out an annoying coworker at the drop of a hat. treat your child like a small adult with more limits and they will respond better. I'm currently in school majoring in family studies. These are just opinions I've gathered from my courses and different researches.

When they start understanding what the meaning of a "no" I would give him 5-10min TIME OUT depending on what he did, and if that doesn't work out and he keeps doing in I would spank him! Spanking is the last resort!!
