Any NYC or city moms have any advice on how to get baby home from the hospital?

Hey all! I live in NYC, and since we don't have a car, I've been trying to figure out how to get baby home from the hospital. For all of you non-car owners living in a city, how did you bring baby home? Uber? Taxi? Or did you rent a car? How did the car seat situation work if you took a taxi or uber? Did the driver let you set up the cat seat?

Luckily my hospital is only ten blocks away from my apartment, but since I'm due in January, and nyc winters tend to be brutal, I want to make sure we get baby home safely. And I'm definitely not taking our newborn on the subway lol. Thanks ladies!

Thanks ladies! Unfortunately I don't know anyone with a car we could borrow, except for maybe my parents on Long Island. But it sounds like uber or zip car is the way to go? Thanks for the advice!

Do you know anyone with a car that could help you out for the ride home? I just moved from the city but I owned a car so I had a car seat in my car but I've also driven a bunch of my friends home from the hospital using said car. I'd try that first.

If not that, then I would recommend Uber. I think they even have car seat options. Or even a zip car. I would try to avoid yello cabs because they aren't usually the cleanest and are shared between drivers.

Rent a car. It's cleaner. You don't have to worry about germs so much either. Sure, it's pricier, but it's definitely worth it..

You should get an Uber and then call them and tell them as they come (: Ubers are very understanding.

With my first I take taxi home, some taxis driver let you set up the car seat, but when u call the base let them know you want to set up the car seat for safety.
