"I'm ashamed I eat the scabs of my scalp" response, original poster please read 💖
A few minutes ago I saw a post in which a girl mentioned that she has a bad habit of eating the scabs/dead skin of her scalp and how she's ashamed of it. It was up for 15 minutes and taken down because she was shamed, and I didn't have the chance to post this and I think it's really important for the original poster to see:
Okay, so first of all you should just ignore the comments you received for sharing. It's not cool to shame people especially when they're opening up about something that makes them uncomfortable. Especially when they have no idea what's going on.
Also, you should know that there are actually a surprising amount of people who do this. It's a common expression of OCD. Want to stop but just can't seem to do it even though you're disgusted with yourself for doing it? You can't because it's a compulsion. Try to examine any constant stress and/or anxiety in your life and consider even seeing a therapist. Therapists have been stigmatized as being for people who have serious problems, but being able to talk freely to someone without judgment and getting advice can actually be very beneficial. Just a thought!
So for the people who said she should "just find a way to stop," that's a ridiculous thing to say, you can't just stop an OCD.
