Sterilizing bottles necessary? 🍼

Do you feel it's necessary? Everything I've read online says if you live in an area with modern (not well) water supply, that soap and hot water is fine.

I do it for brand new bottles from the package. Then usually soap and water.

Tbh, and I know there are people who would eat me alive for it... I just use hot water and soap

I sterilize my bottles once a week. I tend to leave bottles out with formula left in them. So I like to get them nice and clean once a week otherwise I just use soap and hot water

I would say before the first use and if your baby is sick to sterilize. Obviously, other times, wash the bottles that have been used frequently.

I don't boil or microwave plastic. My pedi said the carcinogens aren't good for the baby, even if it says bpa free. They leach out of the plastic when you boil them.

I boil everything (bottles, pump accessories) after every use. Mostly I just find it easier than washing.

I only sterilize it when it 1st come out the box just to get the factory residue off.. bottles nipped pacifier etc.. after that I just,wash in hot soapy free n clear soap .. I don't have dish soap

You're actually not supposed to wash bottles in the dishwasher or sterilize them everyday.. It's not good for them. 
I wash them in hot soapy water everyday and then run them through the dishwasher once a week (unless one accidentally gets left unwashed and gets kind of icky.

I sterilize after every use but she will be 6 months soon so I will stop then.

Don't put them in the dishwasher! I did it on a night we had spaghetti and I now have bright orange bottles 😑
