Any Nurses out there expecting a May baby?

Question

How many nurses or shift workers are about?
I'm a RN working in a private hospital in Australia. I'm currently sitting in my car, willing myself to head in for night duty. Man I am tired, I have slept even less than usual and can't take anything to help. I think this is going to be a difficult journey. I work in physical rehabilitation/medical and wondering how I will keep this pregnancy a secret if I have an infectious patient.

Hey I am a night shift nurse too! I work as a trauma nurse in the ICU/IMU in the US. This is my second pregnancy and I ended up having to tell way earlier because we had a patient receiving chemo that had a car accident and I could not take care of the patient so I had to tell my co workers at 8 weeks. As far as infectious diseases I wear a mask at work which isn't too suspicious. Congratulations and good luck mama!!!

I'm an after hours trauma nurse too! Not sure how I'm going to cope with all the nights. Really want to protect my baby and keep it safe. I'm so fatigued already during the days idk how I'll make it through the night. DH has asked me to cut back hours but I can't really yet. This will be a great thread to follow and I might even do some googling for tips and tricks!

I'm a trauma and ortho RN. I'll be 6 weeks on Tuesday. Last night was the hardest to hide apart from being bloated to hell I had a difficult aggressive patient who kept trying to punch me. Also broken bones makes for heavy patients. I'm waiting until the 2nd trimester to tell them but I know if I have to take a patient to X-ray or Mri I'll have to say. SO wants me to move to a less stressful ward but I love my colleagues and I know once they know the support will be there.

I am a RN in intensive care and on my first shift after finding out my patient needed a nephroscopy! So I had to confide in a few people. Feeling the tiredness after a 12hpur shift though!

Home care pediatric nurse here (LPN) and college student for my RN.. Just started doing some night shifts on weekends on top of my day shifts 4 days during the week. Just found out I'm pregnant with #3! Due 5/17/17. Last night, work was rough. I was exhausted and being that everyone in the house was sleeping, it took everything I had to stay awake especially without coffee!

I'm a swing shift nurse and currently work on an adult oncology/ hematology floor in the US. I'm not sure I'll be able to keep my pregnancy a secret when it happens. (testing on Thursday so please keep your fingers crossed!) I have talked to numerous doctors about what to do when the time comes but it seems they all have different opinions. Some say to transfer to a different unit, others say just to work with the patients not actively getting chemo during their stay and some say stay away from patients who have had chemo within the past "x" number of weeks which is basically our entire population with the exception of the sickle cell and gynecology patients. So we will see! I could imagine the night shifts are going to be much harder though for sure! I already have a hard time sleeping during the day! Good luck to you!!! Hope you have an easy shift!

I'm an aide and I work in a very active psychiatric hospital.  I also work 3rd shift!  So difficult for me. The last couple nights I have been unbuttoning and unzipping my pants under my shirt at work because the bloating and intermittent cramping is crazy by mid-shift from having my pants on!! I had to tell my work, because the other aides and nurses need to take stand for me should any combative issues break loose with the patients or any infectious diseases. This morning I had to take a girl for an xray after she purposely broke her arm - and I had to discretely point to my stomach and ask the technician if I could leave the room to stay away from the radiation. (Because we are not allowed to openly talk with the patients about our own pregnancies...many of them have killed babies 😕)
