Does a UTI affect your ability to conceive?

I'm pretty sure I'm getting a UTI... it came out of nowhere and hurts when I pee. I've had them before and this one doesn't hurt as badly. But does anyone know if it'll affect us since we're TTC? Not just conception but having sex, too? I don't want to try anything if it's going to have negative effects. Thank you in advance.

No it doesn't. But it does affect ttc in another way so if your UTI's are related to having sex like you get them only after you have sex then I does affect it by making you have less sex. My chronic UTI's are only after sex and it affected our ttc journey because every time we have sex I get one then I take antibiotics then when I don't have it anymore we have sex in the same month and I get a worse UTI then I would need intravenous antibiotics and Doctor would suggest stopping having sex until after I finish the antibiot course so yeah because of it sometimes we'd go for couple months without having sex because if we do have sex then that means another nasty UTI. The month we got pregnant I was on a low dose of antibiotic, one before I go to sleep to prevent it from occurring.

I used to get them all the time and I don't know if it is bad but having sex usually made it feel better for a bit and a uti is how I found out I was pregnant with my son...I had a bad one went to the er and didn't even know I was pregnant til they told me...so I don't think it will hurt your chances of conceiving
