Darwin as a girls name?

I know a girl names Dharma, and thought Darwin isnt that different and would be a nice girl's name. How crazy am I?

Personally I don't like it for a girl or boy. That's quite a name to live up to! I also wouldn't name my child Einstein or tesla. Just saying.

Hmm. I think it would be very important to consider the relation to Charles Darwin and how it would be perceived. If you are doing it as a nod to science and evolution, then go for it. If you just think it's cute I'd consider the implications.

I'm a big fan of Charles Darwin!!! I think it is a great name.

That name makes me think of two things:
1. Darwin the city in Australia which is a backwater by all accounts and
2. Darwin Elisa's pet chimp from the Wild Thornberys
Obviously there is also Charles Darwin but that's not particularly unpleasant. 
That said though I love the sound and if it weren't for the above mentioned associations I would love the name. Have you considered a name like Elowyn or Evelyn instead?
