home birth?

Is anyone having a home birth? I really don't want any unnecessary interventions or pressure to do anything I don't want to. I'm considering getting a midwife or doing home birth, however everyone seems to scare me out of having a home birth.. Because it's not normal in my family to do so.. Even though we pop babies out like its our job! Anyone with personal experiences? Good or bad?

I am a FTM so no experience to share but I am having a home birth. I hate hospital and the thought of needles and machines if they're not needed. My midwives have been 100% supportive and really promote home birth for low risk pregnancies! I think as long as it's what you want and you're 100% sure and positive you should go for it. It's your experience and should be what you want so stick to your decision (as long as your midwife thinks it's safe). Good luck x

I've had midwives for 3 of my 6 kids but delivered in the hospital.  The midwives have rights at our hospital.  I've always wanted a home birth but at the end of the day, deliveries don't always go as planned, none of mine have and so I felt better having my midwife in a hospital setting with access to the same things like a birthing tub. Good luck!  Do what feels right for you!  Be safe!

First time mom here and expecting to have a home birth in about 3-4 weeks.  My midwife absolutely supports home births for low risk mothers and absolutely doesn't interfere.  The only time my midwife touches you during labor is to check your vitals and that of your baby's, they only do cervix checks if you request it, and once the head is out they instruct you to check for a cord (they only touch baby during delivery is if you're too scared to grab the baby yourself).  It's amazing actually and I can't wait.  Hoping to have my water birth...

I'm having a home/water birth with a midwife. If it's something you want, don't let people scare you out of it. Water births/home births are beautiful and with a midwife are perfectly safe.

I was planning on having one and have had a home birth midwife follow me up to this point. I absolutely loved the experience though will have to deliver in a hospital due to severe anaemia. I wish you the best and say go for it!!!! I'm a third time mama and like I said wouldn't have it any other way had it not been for my health
