West African belly binding

Ni
Soooo I have about 34 days  or so left till Anaelle makes her appearance (praying she sticks to her due date) and my mom mentions belly binding. Of course my mom is a typical Ghanaian born woman so she doesn't call it belly binding she has her African terminology for it. Well after hearing her go on and on and my grand mother and my aunts supporting her on the idea I decided I will be belly binding as soon as she is born. My mom says that in her village growing up it was mandatory to get belly bond right after birth. Said that it helped reduce vaginal bleeding and help move organs and abdominal muscles back to where they belong.
So last night I stayed up ( probably why I'm at work struggling to stay awake) and researched it and I found out that not only is it done in West Africa it's done in Asia and I forgot the other country. But I was surprised how other cultures praised it and honestly if you looked at my mom you wouldn't think she's ever had a kid let alone 2. So that's my rant about belly binding you ladies should look into it. I'm obviously going to be using the traditional west African cloth to bind but there are more modern version for other people out there and online.
