Are you making your own baby food?

So I've taken on the task of making baby food and so far so good! It's not as cumbersome as I thought it would be and the LO is enjoying every spoonful. Any other mamas going the whole natural route on solid foods?

My in laws have a 2 acre garden and volunteered to grow things specifically for our son and even prep everything for us. We're pretty lucky since we will know exactly where the food came from and what was used on it (if anything) and even the seeds come from an heirloom seed company my MIL works for.

I've been making my son's food and he's loving it. So far he's had peas, avocado, carrots, bananas and yams.

I spent about 3 hours in the kitchen one day making an entire months worth of food while my mom baby sat for me. I purchased organic carrots, green beans, peas and squash and just made my own and froze it in ice cube trays. I feel much better knowing she isn't ingesting as much pesticides as well as I know every ingredient in her food. So far I plan to keep up with this!

We make ours. I put it in ice cube trays to freeze it. They are the perfect size portions.

I'm doing baby led weaning so she'll eat whatever we eat. No purees. Starting at 6 months so technically we'll be making her food...but it won't be different from our own.

Yep. I'll be making my own once I start solids with my little guy. It's cheaper and a lot easier than people would think. You need a decent chunk of time one or two days a month and you're good. The store bought has to be cooked at such extreme temps for safety that a lot of the nutrients are zapped out, so I feel better about giving my kiddo things I cook. Super Baby Food by Ruth Yaron is an awesome go to for knowing how to prepare certain veggies and fruit for baby and when they're ready for each thing as well.
