ladies, when do you all count as the first day of your period??

Hi lovely ladies....
What do y'all count as the first day of your period? I always have 2 days of brown spotting that gradually gets darker, by the 3rd day it's red. 
Which day do I count as CD 1?

Thanks ladies. I've been reading about it online and a lot of things say you should count the first day of proper red bleeding, but I've always counted the day I start with the brown discharge because I always have bad period cramps from that day as well
