1) They know more about Autism now than they used to. So naturally the rate of diagnoses would increase

2) A lot of groups are actually vulnerable to not being diagnosed

No, I believe it's being diagnosed more frequently due to education and the fact it's no longer considers a men/boys only disorder.

Maybe, but more children are getting autism from the harmful environmental factors that has been rapidly introduced the past few decades.

No not at all. But I do think they give out amoxcillin like sweets to the point that it does nothing for some people now

Autism no, there's varying degrees. Someone can have a minor diagnosis. ADHD however, is way over diagnosed. Which is why some people think it's fake. People get a fake diagnosis and abuse it.

My step sons mother thinks he has autism. She's comparing him to his fraternal twin. They're with us 50% of the time and neither of us think he's autistic. We've been searching the Internet to find out what the signs are in toddlers and he doesn't have any of the things they listed. He makes eye contact, he smiles back at us and mimics our expressions when we make faces at him, he knows words and picks up new ones (not as quickly as his twin, but still he gets it).  These are her first kids so I'm thinking she's just over reacting and doesn't understand that kids aren't necessarily going to be on the same developmental time frame as their siblings. Anyway she's finally been able to talk the doctor into a referral to test him.....after hounding her for the past year.  I hope the results of the test finally put it all to rest.

I didn't know this was a controversial topic right now. I'm curious to see some of the other responses but I'll have to do more research on this.
