boob pain from weaning help!

I am in the process of weining from the boob. How long does it take for the milk to dry up? I'm on day 3 of no boob. First day I pumped every 6/8 hrs second day just pumped 7oz in the morning, six hours later 5min each boob, 7hrs later 5mins each boob. The pain woke me up and I had to pump two mins each side to relive the pain so I could sleep. Now day 3 I had to pump for another 2 min each side because the pain is unbearable. I've been icing, taking Advil, sudafed (read it helps dry it up).
