7dpo accuracy??

I took a HPT at 7dpo and got a negative. I haven't tested since and tomorrow I will be 10dpo. I just want to know if I can trust the negative I got or if it is way too early?? Has anybody had a negative at 7dpo and then found out later they actually were pregnant?
