anyone have tongue tied baby?

Hi was wondering if anyone has had a tongue tied baby? My baby boy was born 9/9 and can't latch due to a tongue tie and of course it was the weekend so ENT wasn't there so I am calling tomorrow for appointment for them to snip the frenulum. In the meantime I am manually feeding with a syringe and feeding wire and finger to activate sucking reflex and pumping also to get milk to come in. Was wondering if anyone had better luck breastfeeding after the tongue was fixed.

I had difficult breastfeeding relationships with my first two (now that I know....looks as though ties were part of the problem) and found out by 4 months that my 3rd had a very restricted lip tie and a posterior tongue tie that was making things difficult and keeping her from gaining well. I had it done with a laser and the difference was AMAZING!! Since they tend to run in families I will be having this baby checked by the pediatric dentist who did my daughter's immediately after discharge from the hospital.

I didn't have any issues breastfeeding my son & he was tongue tied, but every kid & set of nipples & situation is different, so don't feel discouraged. I've had many friends who used nipple shields with great success & I've heard that the frenulum adjustment goes quickly & can help to prevent possible speech impediments down the line. In the meantime try a nipple guard... It is working wonders with my little guy to get him to latch... They sell them at Walmart and it is a life saver!!!

My nephew had a tongue tie and had it snipped within 48 hours of birth. My sister had no problems with breastfeeding after that--of course it's always a learning process for mom and baby, but it wasn't difficult for them once it was fixed :)

My first son was lip and tongue tied. Well I should say he is. We did not get him snipped he just learned how to nurse with it. Took a lot of practice but got better by 4 weeks.

My son had a tongue tie that no one caught until 3mos. They're the worst!! But as soon as we got it snipped, it was instant relief for me and healed up quickly for him. He was also excited, he started cooing and taking constantly since he could finally use his tongue.

My friends daughter had this and yes after it was snipped she breastfed just fine.
