false alarm.....AGAIN?!

So last night I was so sure I was gonna be headed to hospital. My contractions were 10 mins apart, actually quite painful and def felt them in my back. I went to bed and actually slept. Uncomfortably but they didn't get worse of closer. This morning they are still happening haven't timed them but wth I am so beyond tired of my body being in false labor with so much pain that I want to cry!!!!!

My dr. Doesn't like to think of it as "false" labor, she says that these contractions are all working for a greater good and that so many people focus on dialation, but dialation is only one piece of it, the contractions thin your cervix and help get the baby into the right position and station.

I'm in a similar situation, been having premordal labor for three nights and they stop in the morning. My doula says the melanoma the body creates only at night helps work with your body and bring on labor, but the production of that hormone stops with daylight. Also, contractions stopping when you go into l and d is super common, since it activates the stress hormone which cuts off the oxytocin hormone which is what helps you progress in labor.

Today my dr. Asked if I wanted my membrane sweeped and I wanted to wait a bit more- she said the contractions got me nice and thin, 2 cm dialated, and the baby is at -1 station and in correct position. Good luck? I know all those uncomfortable moments are doing there job.

How many weeks are you? If you're 37 wks and under its every 10min but if you're 38wks and over they want you to go in if you're having hard contractions that are lasting at least a min every 5 min and for at least 1hr....and of course if your water breaks, bright red bloody show, decreased fetal movement and/or a temp of 103...that's  what my hospital/Ob says

I know exactly how you feel I had 4 false alarms I'm a FTM and I been having contractions for over two weeks now as close as 3min apart but the Dr told me they have to last an hour before I come and literally they stop at 45min or even 50min the one time I made it to a full hour they slowed down when k got on the monitor at L&D

My body hurts so bad I constantly feel pressure in my vagina and my butt but I'm barely dilated at 2 1/2cm I keep getting knots in my throat trying to hold back tears from frustration and discomfort.

I completely understand how you feel. Before I gave birth via c section due to his head being positioned wrong, I had contractions 3-4 min apart almost 4 days. I finally couldnt take it and went back to the hospital a second time and was dialating. I knew it was time bc warm baths were not working anymore. It was very painful. I couldnt sleep at all for days bc they kept me up all night but in the end it was worth it to me and now I want to have another baby :/ but I know its too early to. But being a mother is the best thing in the world. My baby boy is such a Blessing. Just keep thinking your going to meet your baby soon....its getting closer. It def helped me get thru it!

I thought I was having contractions but when I got on the NST and started feeling those deep pulsing cramps the nurse told me it wasn't contractions. Contractions would be different 🙄🙄🙄

I went home no contractions. Since then (Friday) I had one 40 second contraction; yesterday

Mine have been no longer than 6 minutes apart for the last 48 or so hours. They hurt to the point where I can't breathe, walk, talk, or do anything other than cry. But because I'm not dilating anymore, they won't admit me. Last night, I think I got around an hour of sleep due to being woken up every few minutes with excruciating contractions. Let's hope it gets better for us soon!

Over the past 2 nights I've been having what is called prodromal labour. It's labour that starts and then stops after a few hours. First night, I woke up with belly tightning between every 10/15 minutes for about 6 hours and then just vanished. Second night, woke up with period pain like cramps, mostly in my back and abdomen, and they were more intense (3/5 minutes apart for almost 12 hours but didn't get worse). In fact, I went to my routine OB appointment at 9 this morning and then the doc smiled and said: I'll book you in for next week but I'll probably see your name on the board tonight hehehe! I'm 39+1. I'm tired, in a bad mood and just plain uncomfortable. Our bodies are getting ready!

I hear ya mama, I'm in the same boat as you. I'm a week over due tomorrow and have had tons of false alarms it's really wearing on my patience. I just want to get the show on the road and be able to hold my little girl already, it's such a tease when false labor comes and goes. Well let's look at it this way, at least all these intense practice contractions are helping our bodies prepare big time for the real thing when it does happen. And yes this waiting game really friggin stinks but it definitely won't be long till we're holding our little ones.
