I knew I was about to go into labor after seeing a bunch of signs but I was only 36 weeks. The week before I lost my mucus plug, had crazy cravings to clean, and just felt randomly off. When I was 35 weeks and 3 days I went to labor and delivery with constant contractions they checked me and I was only 2 cm dilated. At my next appointment I was 2 cm dilated and 80% thinned and I asked my doctor if there was any way I'd go into premature labor and he basically said no...my baby was already huge hence having type 1 diabetes. Although they told me she was only a little over 9 pounds at that time. By the 36 week mark I woke up to the most severe contractions I had ever had that went through my back and pelvic area. I done everything they said to rule out Braxton hicks contractions...walked, drank water, took Tylenol and laid down. I got them the worst when I laid down on my sides. An hour later I had fluid leaking down my leg and knew it was time to go. Me and my husband headed again to labor and delivery, got checked in, they checked me and I was still 2 cm! Talk about being bummed. They monitored me for 4 hours and I was in so much pain that they had to admit me and give me Demerol and finagrin to ease pain. Of course as expected it only made it worse. I got checked again and still hadn't changed. The ob said she'd check me again in 2 hours and if I haven't changed they'd send me upstairs to a room so I could be monitored for contractions. The two hour mark came and like magic I had dilated to 4 cm! They done another weight check on the baby and said she would be 10 lbs and had to do a c section. An hour later at 9:36 pm on August 31st I was having a c section and gave birth to a healthy 11 pound 9 oz baby girl that was 21 inches long!!! I couldn't believe my body carried around a baby the size of a 3 month old! But sheΒ
