8 week appointment

Going to my first OB appointment on Thursday and just want to know what to expect? I've never had a miscarriage or any issues so far but I was wondering if they do anything to check to make sure the little nugget is okay? Or does that not happen until later on? I find it crazy that they don't actually check the baby until so far along. Maybe it's just me being a worry wart 😂
