Menstrual cup??

I've been hearing a lot lately about the menstrual cup or diva cup so I've been thinking about trying it I'm confused as to how it works. Do you just stick it up there like a tampon? How  often do you change it or clean it? Can you feel it? How do you know when to take it out?

I have been using the diva cup for 6 months. I honestly wish I had known about it way sooner. I love it and will never go back to Tampons.
Here are my reasons why I love it.
1. The cup is made out of medical grade silicon. Therefore reusable and excellent for your body.
2. Since there are no harmful chemicals or toxins it can be left in for up to 12 hours. For me the first few days are heavy so I go between 4-6 hours.
3. My periods are no more a pain to deal with. They go by so fast.
4. My cramps are almost nonexistent 
5. Since it is reusable you only have to buy one and it is good for a year or two depending on your care for it. 
6. They are so great for the environment ✌🏻️
7. My vagina doesn't smell like period when I have my period( this might not apply but when I wore tampons I had a smell coming from my vagina when I was on my period now I don't)

8. Leave it in overnight with no worries of leakage or TSS

Yes the cup is messy but honestly to me it's much better then a smelly blood soaking pad or tampon. You get used to it.
Like anything new it does take a little learning and patience in how to figure out to put it in and that it seals. My first cycle using the cup I took it out every couple of hours to figure out how much blood I was producing and when to dump it so I wouldn't leak.
There are so many cups out there that if one doesn't feel right don't be discouraged. Just google menstrual cup quiz and the links will help you find the right cup!

I like mine a lot but I'm still getting used to it. The first day of my period is the WORST so I don't use it then but I'm so happy I mustered the courage to use one .

1) it can be messy when emptying it out 
2) yea you feel it but I've yet to experience discomfort 
3)  it come with directions for insertion and it can take a few tries to get it "seated" properly but just follow the packaging 
4) so far I just keep mine in for 4-5 hours at max to make sure I don't leak and I seem

I seriously felt more cramps with a tampon vs the diva cup and I'll try my best to never go back to tampons
