Am i in the wrong

A couple of days ago i get a text from my mum saying my nephew has just had emergentcy surgery. I currently live with my bf and his parents and i mention to my bf in front of in laws saying we are going to see him in hospital my mother in law then goes off on us saying we made plans to fix something in the house (the first time we heard that) and didnt ask how my nephew  is or nothing and said we never do anything for her ect... This was last week friday. I have not said a word to her since as i feel she was selfish and she does not care about my family and that hurts me so much as my family is everything to me. 

Am i wrong in not talking to her? im so upset  on what she did and i feel she needs to come talk to me first.
