preeclampsia?

Question

Has anyone had/have preeclampsia and the systolic blood pressure was normal but the diastolic was high?
Do they both have to be high to be considered pre-e or just one?

Preeclampsia can be diagnosed with whenever the top number is 140 or higher or the bottom number is 90 or higher. They both don't have to be 140/90 or higher.

I have had high BP the last 2 weeks. 2 weeks ago it was 164/103 and I had a trace of protein in my urine. I was sent to the hospital for more testing and my BP went down and all tests came back normal. Today My bp was 146/90 and I had protein in my urine. I was sent to the hospital again for more testing and my BP came down after couple hours of laying on my left side but I still had protein in my urine but all other tests came back fine.  I have to monitor my bp at home at least once a day and rest on my left side frequently throughout the day and now I have to be seen once a week until delivery.

They usually both have to be high usually 150/90s is considered pre-high. Normal is usually 120/80. The top number ALWAYS has to be higher then the bottom. U can have like 120/90 and the 90 would be considered high but the BP wouldn't be high enough to consider preeclampsia. When my sister had preeclamsia her bp was 240/180. It only turns to eclampsia when you start having seizures. Hope that helps.

I just had my 36 week check up and my top number was really high. I didn't have protein in my urine, but she wants me back in a few days to keep am eye on me. So i guess it's possible.
