What was your experience with the Depo Provera shot?

I'm fed up! I'm ready to be off the depo, I'm due Oct. 16th for my next one. I had a D&C (& hysteroscopy) for Polyps a little over a month ago and I'm still bleeding. My doctor says he can't see a reason for it and only thing left is to get off the depo and onto the pill. (Btw I've tried dozens of pills for my pain and heavy bleeding and none of them work.) But I'm just so fed up. I bleed during any type of sexual activity. External stimulation, intercourse, anything. I think having the D&C while on the depo was a mistake and my uterus is too thin to heal properly... What was your experience and when were you finally normal again after the Depo? I just want to have a normal sex life and normal cycles. 😔 I haven't had a period since I've been on it.
