Bad breath!

I can't stand kissing my husband anymore because his breath is so bad. He never brushes and doesn't use mouthwash. He tells me it hurts too much to do it because he has joint issues and impingement in his shoulders so I feel like a real jerk when I pull away from him. I'm not sure how to bring it up nicely either.
