pseudoephedrine while pregnant? (sudafed)

I'm really sick and my mid wife told me I could take it but doing my research it's scary it says it can cause birth defects? Has anyone had personal experience or is it okay to take?

I was just informed at 27 weeks that long term pseudoephedrine can cause a reduction in milk production yet midwife did not say anything to me about taking it. I used to use zyrtec every day..

I don't, but normally a doctor gives you an "okay" over the counter medicine list.
And unless your wife is a medical professional, I would just call your doctors office or the nurses hotline at your hospital. It's the best course of action.

I frankly wouldn't; too many negative effects. There are other medications on the market.

My dr said I could take a benadryl. All the info out there is confusing. Talk to your dr, you can just call and ask the medical assistant they will then leave a message for your dr.
