How was your experience having an IUD put in? And how do you like it?

I just got an IUD put in today and oh my lord that was uncomfortable! I'm having pretty bad cramping right now but hopefully that won't last too terribly long. For anyone who has gotten it put in, was the procedure very painful for you? And how long did your cramping last? Also, have you had any noticeable side effects good or bad?

I held the nurses hand while the actual doctor put it in. I know I sound so childish but I went alone and was so scared. It was like a pinch and I barely squeezed the nurses hand. The cramps lasted a few hours but I went back to work 45 mins later.

My Mirena insertion was... Painful to say the least but once the doc numbed my cervix it got better. My cervix was not trying to open up at all but once it was in things got better. I've cramped every day but that's to be expected since your uterus doesn't want it there lol. Every reaction is different but don't forget your ibuprofen!
