PCOS--- how did you find out?

For those of you who have PCOS, How did you find out you had it? And did you have any major early symptoms?

I figured out I had PCOS at 28 when I began TTC and went off birth control after being on it since I was 20. My cycles were always irregular before birth control but my doctor said it may have been because I was young. But without birth control they went right back to 70+ day cycles, plus I experienced acne flare ups I hadn't while on birth control. First I googled symptoms myself and self diagnosed, then a few months later my doctor confirmed it by doing a lot of bloodwork and an ultrasound of my ovaries.

When I was in my teens I always had pain in my overies and my period was never regular but Drs never found nothing wrong until two years ago I got married and went to the dr telling them I was ttc they sent me to get blood work done and told me I had pcos and gave me metformin hoping that would regulate my period and I would ovulate and no luck but now I'm being treated by a different dr she did blood work and ultrasound gave me 6 months of birth control and in oct I have my next appointment hoping the cyst are gone and start treatment to consive hopefully

I knew from when I was really young cuz I had all the classic symptoms from puberty on: unexplained weight gain, facial and body hair, acne, irregular periods, etc. I got officially diagnosed at age 20 though with blood tests that showed twice the amount of testosterone as an average adult male lol

I was diagnosed (6 years ago) by my doctor after abdominal and internal scans and tests. My main symptom was i rarely had a period, maybe 3 a year max that were really heavy sorry if tmi and when i ovulated i would get really bad pains were my ovaries are. The pelvic scan i had showed that my ovaries are 'bulky' as they produce eggs they just dont always release them :( hope i have helped a bit :)

For me it was just the fact I couldn't get my cycle. Besically it was like this....my daughter was born November 7th 2014...I breastfed her for about 3 months and I stopped because I couldn't supply what she was demanding. At the end of march 2015 I got my first period (heavy) that was 5 months after having my little one. After that period...........nothing for MONTHS ni joke....by the time September rolled around I knew something wasn't right...so I made a OBGYN appointment and they did an ultrasound and saw that I had cysts in my ovaries. They then asked me questions following that about usual things I might have noticed that was different about my body and I told them and that's when they told me that I have PCOS. So now after almost 2 years hubby and I been trying for baby #2 and been having a hard time because of PCOS so my doctor put me on metformin hoping it will help regulate my cycle so we can ttc with better chances. Sorry for such a long responce :).

Started two years before I fell pregnant with my son. I had exploratory surgery due to pain , they found my ovaries were 3x the size they were suppose to. I went on bc and it cleared up some what and as soon as I went off I got pg with my son. Now I'm on metformin (currently been on for a month) because I was going without periods and gaining weight way to quickly and couldn't keep in off! I'm ttc #3 baby going on 9 months now

I was going in for my tubal reversal... and diagnosed then just about 2 months ago. My symptoms..crazy periods heavy as all get out or not at all... go 3 months on and 3months off. Such a pain. Now I have to take meds to start a period.

I found out when I was 13 that I had PCOS...I have 15 on one and 16 on the other so it's a pretty bad case! 😢 but my periods were all over the place from the age of 10 and super painful!! I went to my doc and they put me on the pill at 13 to try and regulate them but the pill made me Ill so they tried the implant that made me bleed for 2 years straight!! (I kept tampax in business) and then got that removed. I started having even worse pain about 3 year ago I'm now 24 and went for further investigations and found that I also had endometriosis. I had surgery to remove that but still trying to battle with the PCOS. 
I was told that sometimes with PCOS people go through life not even knowing they have it and having no symptoms what so ever! Xx
