🎀NYLA SYMONE🎀 Born 9/14/2016 .. KINDA LONG!!
On 9/14 I went to my 39week checkup (actually 38+6) .. I was hoping and praying that I had progressed from the previous week of being 0cm dilated .. Well to my surprise, I was 3cm dilated and fully effaced.. I only walked like 2 days up until my appt and did squats during each time I had a contraction .. I also ran the bleachers at the local high school's football stadium .. Okay after leaving my appointment, I went home and ate a meat lovers pizza w/ jalapeños added and took a nap .. After all that time passed, I noticed I hadn't felt my baby move since earlier that morning at my appointment.. I remember texting my SO at about 3:30 asking him to drive me to the ER to be checked out .. Although I was in no pain, I still knew her not moving was a sign that something was wrong because she ALWAYS moved all day long seemed like .. Well we arrived at the ER about 4pm and I explained my concerns to them .. They got me hooked up to a monitor and I was instructed to press the little button each time I felt her move .. After about an hour, she had only moved 3times (even after eating and drinking the graham crackers and OJ they had given me) .. My OB came in and checked the monitor and asked was I in pain and I told him no .. Turns out, I was contracting strongly but I promise I didn't feel a thing .. He proceeded to do a cervical check and I was 5cm by that time---around 5:30pm .. While doing my cervical check, my waters broke and he noticed my fluids were brownish .. It was meconium 😔 .. My babygirl had pooped a little!! He said to me then that he wanted to give me pitocin to speed things up .. They got that started about 6pm and things picked up from there .. I started contracting pretty strongly but not unbearable.. An hr and a half passed and I started asking for pain meds via IV as I did not want the epidural .. The nurse asked to check me first just to make sure I wasn't too far along .. When she checked, I was 10cm and had started to crowned 🙌🏾 .. TOO LATE NOW!! My OB rushed in and asked that I do exactly what he says .. I pushed only when he told me to as he had to suction her nose and mouth as she came out so that she wouldn't inhale or swallow any meconium .. It was soooo hard not to push .. Anyways, at 8:17pm after 3 strong pushes, my angel was born weighing 5lb7oz and 17in long .. Come to find out, the reason her movements decreased was because her cord was wrapped around both her ankles several times causing her to go into distress and that's what made her poop .. The nurses and my OB all told me that they were happy I came in when I did because if I didn't it would've probably been a not so happy ending .. I couldn't agree more .. Here's my babygirl everyone; it was all a wonderful, somewhat scary experience!!
