Should we throw our own baby shower?
I need your honest opinion here.
Here's our story: My husband and I live in a city half way across the US from our families and friends we grew up with. We moved to San Francisco from Hong Kong (though we're from the states). Our close friends are spread all over the world. We spend much of our time running my husband's healthcare tech startup and our friends are as equally busy with running thier companies and traveling with work.
Here's the question: Is it strange to plan our own baby shower? We don't want to expect anyone else to take time out of thier busy schedules to take all the time with planning and coordinating details to throw one for us, especially since we are due on New Years Day and the holidays will be among us, thus proving difficult for people to attend.
I'm thinking about planning a baby shower to celebrate our rainbow baby in mid November, but I haven't made my mind on how it will be perceived.
