She was my bridesmaid, but I'm not hers.
Advice:
A little over a year ago my husband and I had our wedding. My bridesmaids consisted of my 2 best friends from high school, my best friend from college, my cousin, and my husband's sister.
Now, one of best friends from high school got engaged a month before my wedding and instantly gave gifts/letters to the girls she wanted as her bridesmaids -- I was not one of them. However, she did ask me to be her personal attendant for the day.
Now, this girl has been one of my closest friends since we were in fourth grade! Having her in my wedding was a no brainier because she meant so much to me.
Because I was shocked and hurt, And we are so close, I felt comfortable enough to call her out on it. She explained that her fiancé didn't want more than 5 bridesmaids, but if he did, I would have been the 6th.
But here's the kicker: her wedding is a month away and two months ago I found out she asked her brother's girlfriend to be in the wedding.
Now I understand that weddings are truly about the bride and the groom, but am I crazy to feel as if I'm not good enough to be her bridesmaid? I'm not mad; I'm hurt.
