Multiple sclerosis?

Hi! So I've been having vision problems for the past year. I go through a period of time that I literally go blind, and it progresses through my whole eye, which is occasionally followed by a super severe migraine and cognitive/memory problems and I get really bad limb pains, and sometimes my hands and legs go numb. It used to happen maybe once a month/every 2 months, but its been really often. I finally went to see the doctor about it because it is becoming very frequent (almost every day this week). I have this itching suspicion that its multiple sclerosis. The doctor I feel hardly listened and gave me a ct scan and some reglin(reglan?) For the headache and gave me a neurologist reference in case I need it. Is there anyone who knows about ms and could coach me about how I should approach bringing it up, or what their experiences were with it? I would appreciate the help!

Absolutely bring this up with the neurologist ASAP. It might be embarrassing to think of getting shot down, but what's worse, a moment of embarrassment it your lifelong health? Honestly tho if the neurologist is worth her/his salt they'll probably already have considered that possibility. Tell them you are concerned it could be MS and you want them to specifically look into that possibility as they go about figuring out what this is. Be nice but firm and tell, don't ask. :)

Random two cents... make sure they test you for Lyme. It mimics MS and is often misdiagnosed as MS.

You definitely need a specialist. A neurologist and a rheumatologist. An MRI can detect brain lesions which is indictative of MS, in addition my dr ran spinal fluid. There are many many autoimmune diseases that mask as MS too so make certain to see both Drs.
The best thing you can do is keep a journal of everything. Every symptom, what you did for the symptom and if it helped, how much you slept, drank ( as in fluid intake), what you ate, activity level and stress level. That's what they really need to see as well. If you have swelling or limbs that turn blue take pictures. Even if it's your foot turning in due to numbness take a pic. 
The diagnosis part is a pain in the ass since it's a diagnosis of ruling everthing else under the sun out, unless you have significant lesions.
Start taking vit D and B supplements I found it helps with the numbness and stinging pains I get. Also flax or fish oil.

I have ms. Are u sure it was a cat scan and not a MRI??  If the dr is sending you to a neurologist that's the best you can get as far as a start. They then might wanna do a spinal tap just to confirm. The tap sounds worse than what it ends up being just lay flat for several hours.

I have ms, and I am 18. If your hands and feet fall asleep a lot I wouldn't say that as a concern because there's definitely a diffence in feeling between the ms and your foot falling asleeping because you sat on the toliet for too long. MS is more of a pins and needles type of numb, not your average asleep sensation. As for you headaches, oh my goodness headaches are super hard to categorize. Do you constantly feel fatigued? Because I know that I can sleep for 10 hours and get up for maybe 30 minutes and feel like I ran 5 miles. I really hope that your doctor take this seriously but I hope you dont have it. I had to get a Spinal Tap to confirm that I had the ms gene because nuero's typically dont want to lable you with the diesease unless they absolutely have to. But honeslty thw best of luck to you!

I know this is an old post but I’m wondering if the MS was confirmed? I went to the ER last night due to loss of vision and seeing double and it was confirmed that I have MS. I have only had the symptoms for 4 days but after 5 days of steroids my doctor said my sight should return in 3 weeks. I’m wondering if it was confirmed for you and if you had any more flare ups?

Just get to the neurologist ASAP. They need to do a spinal tap and an MRI of the brain and spinal cord. I had an attack last year and was almost paralyzed within the space if a week. If its MS or AI you need to get in immediately to avoid permanent brain damage and disability.

Don'tself diagnose. It could be any number of things. I know that Graves Disease causes vision problems and muscle weakness among many other symptoms.
