Gynecologist ??

This is probably the wrong room sorry but I don't know what other room to put it in. I don't remember who told me but someone said that we should start making appointments with a gynecologist when we start having sex. I've been having sex for a while, but i haven't visited a gynecologist yet. Is it necessary ?? If so how do I ask my mom to make me an appointment ? I'm 16 so she'd be upset if i told her I was sexually active and that's why i want to make an appointment. Do i just tell her and ask her to take me to the gynecologist or do i wait?

You should start seeing a gynecologist at around 12-13. Its not mandatory but that is the suggested age. So it's totally normal for you to go. Just tell your mom to take you. If she's suspicious just tell her it's recommended at that age. Even before you have sex you can still go for checkups even if you don't have any issues.

Tell her you have a yeast infection or your periods are wacky. Like they're super heavy or irregular. Or find an older friend, cousin, or aunt who could take you.

Going cant hurt anything, getting tested for STI's would be the main focus, and just tips for safe sex.

Tell your mom you need to go, they will ask her to step out of the room so you are able to speak to the doctor freely.

It is necessary because when you have sex your body changes and you want to make sure everything is healthy with your vagina as far as STD wise and other things that can go wrong
