Table Foods??

Question

When did you start feeding your kids table food?

The advice here is six months.  They say that introducing food too early increases the risk of allergies and tummy upsets.

My mom started introducing my first born to table food when he was 3months.

My first was a preemie (she's really just impatient) and came home at 3 months old.  At 4 months old, she literally stopped taking the bottle. Especially around meal times. I was at the end of my rope, so in went a finger tip of mashed potatoes. Gone, almost an insane amount of food went into this child. She started to take the bottle again, but refused and demanded solids at dinner.

My second would scream and scream as I tried to eat at 3 months.  Holding her didn't help, nursing before/after/during didn't help...she wouldn't latch. I tried putting her in a different room, she'd scream until she couldn't breathe (which is pretty scary)
So, again, the finger tip of squash.  She was content with just knowing what I was eating taste like for a while. She started to eat solids closer to 5 months. 
My niece and nephew didn't start, or show an interest in, solid food till after 6 months.  So it really depends on the readiness of the baby.

I tried giving my first born mashed up banana with breast milk at 5 months but she wasn't ready so we tried again at 6 months

My sister started her son at 4 months. He eats everything but meats. Since he doesn't have teeth. She also breastfeeds. Her doctor approved him to eat table foods. He love avocado, and bananas. And it has helped a lot with his hand eye coordination.
