Can't put pressure on hand

Has this happened to you? Last night I was on the floor with my 4 month old and I used my right hand to push myself up but when I did I had this shooting sharp pain come from the top off my hand only in one area. Feels like it could be my vain. This has never happened to me before and I have no idea how I hurt it. Even today, when I forget and put pressure on it. I get a sharp pain. What the heck is going on?
