Ever been a bridesmaid? Did you pay for everything?

The is my first time being a bridesmaid in a wedding and I originally told them I couldn't do it because I had just had my baby and Money is tight. My cousin is the groom and begged me to be in it so I am doing it just for him. Things keep changing and things keep getting added to the tab. Is this normal for weddings? Let me know so I won't ever agree to another lol

I never knew of anyone to pay for anything as a bridesmaid... Haha.

I've been a bridesmaid 6 times, some high cost weddings and some very low cost and never had to pay for anything, dresses, spa days pedicures etc, lunches for wedding planning all paid for by the bride, of course I've offered to pay, but usually the bride already paid ahead of time for things.

Dress, shoes, hair and makeup should be your expenses. Plus maybe pitch in for bachelorette party.

Honestly, they're supposed to pay for everything they want. That's what my mom says too. I was picked to be a bridesmaid. But everything was on us. All her bridesmaids paid for their dresses and bought everything. Couple months later, she decides she wants out of becoming married. Left her fiance and all the money spent by his family to prepare this wedding!! Lucky for me I bought my dress on clearance lol. 
I think it's only fair for the bridesmaid to pay for atleast the dress, shoes...either hair or jewelry. Atleast that's what I would do.

I've been a bridesmaid 5 times. 2 times were my sisters, I was still in high school, so my parents paid for all of my stuff. The other 3 I paid for my dresses, shoes, hair, makeup. Spa days were our "gifts" from the brides. In my wedding everyone paid for their own things except jewelry and getting their makeup done

It's different for everyone but yes a lot of bridesmaids pay for their own stuff. I am getting married next year and on a tight budget so my bridesmaids are paying for their own stuff but I'm making sure I keep it on the cheaper side and have talked to them about it. If you can't afford it just straight up tell her either you help me pay or I can't do it!

Typically the bridesmaids are responsible for their hair, dress, shoes. Maid of honor usually has more expenses... bachelorette party, etc. if money is tight I would just talk to your cousin about it. Tell him you really want to be apart of his wedding but it's an expense you weren't planning for so maybe he could help you out. Doesn't hurt to ask.

I was recently a bridesmaid and didn't pay for anything dress wise, etc. I did my own hair and makeup though, I believe I would've had to pay for those if I decided not to do them myself.

My girls paid for their dresses.  Hair was my gift to them, and they did their own makeup (they were all skilled, so it wasn't an issue).  I got them lunch too... not sure what else there is to add-on?  Jewelry was whatever they wanted.  I did flowers, I guess?
