no 12 week ultrasound?

So I had my first apt. At 6w4d had an ultrasound saw a heartbeat... well everyone else I see is getting a 12 week ultrasound my doctor won't do another until 20 weeks.. is this normal? Contemplating finding another doctor.. any advice would be great!

I would. The NT ultrasound can pick up things such as Down syndrome.

Could also be dependent on your insurance. My insurance will only cover 2 during pregnancy unless it's medically necessary. 1 for dating which would count as your 6 week one. And another at the halfway point for gender and to make sure everything is fine. Some OBs do routine ones at every other appointment and others need special appointments. First call your insurance and see how much they cover and if they cover more find a doctor who will provide services you want.

Normally I wouldn't but I elected for the NT ultrasound and bloodwork to determine the risk of Down syndrome.

My doctor isn't doing one until 12-13 weeks which is when they do the genetic screening blood work and ultrasound.

My doctor won't even see you until you are at least 8 weeks!
