to be induced or not?!

I need help ladies!!!! Yesterday I had a regular doctor apt just to check my baby's heartbeat. They told me they usually wait 2 weeks past your due date to induce baby if not here by then but if I want they will induce me on my due date. They said babies have higher risk for complication the longer they stay in as far as like going to the bathroom inside the womb and swallowing it ect. what would you guys do? What's your opinions?

It's up to you but I wouldn't. I'd do anything else to get them out first. Red raspberry leaf tea, evening primrose oil, walking/stretching, and clary sage essential oil. Even a massage that is specifically for induction by using certain pressure points. Pitocin produces unnaturally long and strong contractions. Most end up with an epidural because the contractions are worse. Then the strength and length of contractions causes fetal distress because they're being squeezed to long and can't catch a break in between contractions like your body would naturally. Then you end up with a csection. You also can't move around as much because of the continuous fetal monitoring which also constricts you to the bed. Also I'd look up effects of pitocin during labor.

I would just let baby come when it's time. IF for whatever reason you do go past your due date and need to be induced then ok. But I wouldn't do it just to do it. I had to be induced early, only because I was in active labor and not all of my body parts wanted to do what they needed too. It's not a lot of fun having pictocin. It's makes your contractions WAY worse, makes you shaky and cold.

I'd say induced on due date. Not to scare u but i just seen a FB post about a lady who was set to be induced week 42 and baby died 40w6days out of no where. That definitely freaked me out and my husband and I decided I'd be induced as early as possible if needed.

Wish we had the option in the uk! They make you wait until 42 weeks before trying to induce you unless you have a medical condition! I'd take the induction at 40 weeks if it was me!

At 41w they checked me in to be induced. The night before they were to start pitocin, they put cervadil on my cervix to help ripen it. They worked wonders and I started contracting. In the mornings I begged my midwife to break my water. She did on the term that I would do everything I could to get baby out naturally. I did in order to avoid pitocin. I walked, squated... Birthing ball, had the hospital bed set to a position that supported a squating position... Got a massage and was dilated fully in 3hrs! If it gets to this point maybe discuss this option. :)

Wow two weeks past? I'd go insane lol. I'd ask for 41 induction. That's what my hospital policy is. Good luck! At least you know baby is happy and health inside :-)

I avoid induction as long as baby passes all tests. My son was born at 41+5 days. He finally came on his own. But I had to go in every 3 days for ultrasound and checkup. I'm just really scared of being induced but do what you're comfortable with. Maybe give it just a few days past your EDD?  Good luck!

I was the same way with my son. We went in the middle. We were induced at 41 weeks and it was a good experience for the most part and we were ready and I couldn't do anything by myself by the time we were induced I was so miserable.

I induced at 40+1 with my first. Best decision for me.
