Mirena removal, trying to lose weight, hoping to ttc soon!
I had my Mirena removed today! I got it placed February 7, 2015, roughly 6 weeks after my son (2nd baby) was born.
I have lived most of my life on the heavy side, I'm currently 27 years old and 5'7''... I was 285 at my highest weight (around 2010/2011)... I slowly started losing weight without realizing, though others noticed, and was down about 40 lbs by 2012. I became pregnant, found out at 7 weeks, in July 2012 and miscarried at 10 weeks. We were not planning/trying for a baby at all, but once we got over the shock we were thrilled, and then devastated by the loss.
My boyfriend (Nathan) and I got together in 2010 when my daughter had just turned 4, he had no children and actually went through an ectopic pregnancy a couple years prior with his girlfriend before me. He was extremely upset over the loss and blaming himself for two unsuccessful pregnancies.
Anyway, I then threw myself into my health and fitness and by October of 2014, I was down over 100 lbs weighing in at 175
When we decided to conceive, I stopped exercising and wasn't watching my nutrition as much as I had been. When I became pregnant with my son, I was yo-yoing around 185-195 lbs and I did pretty well weight wise, gaining about 30 some lbs the entire pregnancy which landed me at 227 when I gave birth.
When I got my mirena placed, I was roughly 219. A year and a half later, I'm now 226.5 lbs and feel awful physically and I'm not happy when I look in the mirror.
I've never really been one to beat myself up over my weight, though. I had/have high self esteem and more confidence than many of my friends who weighed 120 lbs. Weight isn't really an issue for me, but I felt so much better in all aspects when I did weigh less.
Since I have been on the Mirena, I've been having trouble staying focused on my fitness and even when I was doing well, I only went down a couple pounds before I'd gain it back.
I've been on birth control since 2005. I've done several different pills and was on the depo for 3 years at one point. In Jan/Feb of 2012, the brand I was on for about 3 months got recalled for not functioning properly and women becoming pregnant. I decided not to go on anything when I got off that and that's when I was finally able to lose weight. About 40 lbs was without "trying."
I'm hoping that the removal of my iud will have the same effect. If I can see a decrease without me focusing too much, I know it will encourage and motivate me to get back into that health style.
But at the same time, I'm beyond ready to ttc while Nathan goes back and forth and is iffy. My daughter will be 10 and our son will be 2 November 16th&17th, respectively. (My aunt says I'm mighty consistent lol)
I don't want a big age gap between our son and a new baby, and we both definitely want another baby. To me, anything over 3 years is more than I'd like. I would have preferred about 2 years but that's obviously not able to happen at this point.
Nathan is one of those who is always worrying about money... he's made comments about me needing to be full time or him getting a raise before we try. We both make good money for the area we live. We live paycheck to paycheck still, but our bills are always paid plus we are able to eat out when we want and buy things that aren't "necessary."
I feel if people truly wait until they think they have enough money, it'll never happen. So I'm hoping we will officially be ttc by Christmas. I have no plans on using any other bc other than when he decides to withdrawal, which was actually our only form of bc through a good portion of our relationship.
Sorry this is so long and all over the place, but I pretty much just needed to get it out for my sake.
So, here's to hoping I can see ten lbs gone by Christmas. Or even better, a bfp by then 😉
I'll more than likely keep tracking my journey with this on here, so if you're interested in how I'm doing with my weight or ttc, or if you're in the same boat, I hope you follow along and share your experience with me!
Also, if you had issues with weight management while on mirena (or any other bc, like me) I'd love to here how it went once you were off of it!
Thanks for reading. Much love 😘💜💙
