do you buy a mattress pad for a breathable mattress ?

Question

I bought the lullaby earth breeze crib mattress which is suppose to be breathable and waterproof .
But do you use a mattress pad cover ? I feel like if I do , it takes away from the breathable part . Im still using a sheet over it but I'm confused on if I should or shouldn't

Any advice greatly appreciated

I have these partial waterproof mattress covers that are not breathe able, but are positioned across the middle width of the crib mattress to allow some protection from leaks and leave the rest of the mattress open and breathing. We shall see how they work out..

A mattress pad or cover will make it no longer breathable unless you specifically get a breathable one, which I've never seen but I've also never really searched for one.
