When to start washing new baby stuff

Question

I'm almost 31 weeks. I don't know when I should start washing the baby clothes I had bought. I guess I'm just afraid the baby won't fit in the newborn clothes. If I don't wash and untag them, then I can still return them. But I still need something the baby can wear! I don't know if I should be safe and just have him to start wearing the 3 month old clothes?? Or just wash a couple of outfits?? And I wanna wash all the other clothes I got from the baby shower together. I may have another baby shower at 36 weeks. I was thinking to wait until then too cuz what if I get more clothes. I wanna wash them all together. I wanna be prepared ahead of time though... omg I don't know what to do!

My last baby was 9 and a half pounds so a big baby. She was in newborns still for about a couple of weeks. I would say as long as they're not expecting you to have a 10+ pound baby, you should be ok to wash a few outfits. I would start with maybe 5. And then you can decide the rest after baby is born.

I'll be 37 weeks on Monday. I just washed all of her blankets and sheets this past week and have intentions of cleaning the rest of her clothes this week. We don't have many newborn clothes in general. I did clean a few outfits for the hospital bag, which is also packed. ☺️

I just washed the hand-me-down ones tonight and got them all put away. I keep getting told that my little girl has really long legs so I don't want to take the tags off the new stuff yet. Once I know what were working with size wise I will wash/return the new stuff. Oh and I'm 37 weeks

I would only wash a few things in each size. My daughter is over 8 months but she was almost 9 lbs at birth and none of the newborn size fit her. I washed everything and wish I hadn't. There ended up being a garbage bag full of stuff that she never even wore once, but because it was washed, it was non returnable. She lived in onesies with feet for the first 2 months of her life.

I'm 38 weeks and I've washed almost everything! I'm having a c-section in 12 days and I know the last thing I'm going to want to do after I come home is wash clothes. I do have a Christmas outfit that I haven't washed yet and still has tags in case I need to exchange it for a larger size. But everything else is washed. I had planned on leaving tags on some things, but I couldn't decide which outfits to not take tags off of because I love them all so much!

You shouldn't wash all the clothes, just wash a couple of outfits in different sizes, like NB and 3M once the baby comes then start washing by size as baby grows, you may wash something and then never put it on your baby an it's a waste cause you may want to exchange sizes, but you can't cause it's washed and no tags. :( also keep tags on until just before you wash.

I had two baby showers aswell. I waited till the second one & im glad I did. I got so much more than the first! Also I separated it by size and only washed nb-3 clothes
